Alex George

Alex George lives in Columbia with his family (though he has spent time in Maine, a state close to his heart). He studied law at Oxford University and has practiced as an attorney for more than 20 years in London, Paris and the United States. His acclaimed novel, “A Good American,” received a great deal of support from independent bookstores across the country and was the #1 Indie Next List pick in February 2012 and chosen as a One Institute, One Read title for ABA’s Winter Institute 8. George is also the director and founder of the Unbound Book Festival, a new literary festival in Columbia, which in 2016 included appearances by Michael Ondaatje, Mark Doty, Candice Millard, Eleanor Brown, John Freeman and many more. His most recent novel, “Setting Free the Kites,” was called “colorful, poignant, winning and touching” by George Hodgman.
