Carlo Matos

Carlo Matos has published ten books, including “The Quitters” (Tortoise Books) and “It’s Best Not to Interrupt Her Experiments” (Negative Capability Press). His poems, stories, and essays have appeared in such journals as “Iowa Review,” “Boston Review,” “Rhino,” and “Diagram,” among many others. Carlo has received grants from CantoMundo, the Illinois Arts Council, and the Sundress Academy for the Arts. He currently lives in Chicago, IL, is a professor at the City Colleges of Chicago, and a former MMA fighter and kickboxer. These days he can be found writing poems on demand with “Poems While You Wait” and training in the exquisite art of the Italian rapier. He is a contributor to “They Said: A Multi-Genre Anthology of Contemporary Collaborative Writing,” published by Black Lawrence Press in June 2018.
